Argon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic gas that belongs to the noble gases group. Known for its inert nature, argon does not react chemically and remains stable under most conditions. It is about 1.38 times heavier than air and slightly soluble in water. Though it constitutes only around 0.93% of the Earth's atmosphere, argon plays a crucial role in various industrial processes.
Argon is typically obtained from the atmosphere using an Air Separation Unit (ASU), where it is extracted as a cryogenic liquid at an extremely low temperature of approximately -303°F. Once collected, argon can be supplied either as a cryogenic liquid or in compressed gaseous form, depending on the application and delivery requirements.

CGA publication V-7 provides standardized valve outlet connections for gas mixtures, as their combined properties often require different fittings than individual gases.
